FECA was established 20 years ago with the mission to establish a school for children with autism.  DMLC is now in its 18th year.   As students have grown and graduated into adulthood FECA has responded with support for vocational and employment opportunities that will further create and enhance opportunities essential to their lives and well being.

In recognition of our expanded mission FECA will retain its acronym while becoming the Foundation for Empowering Citizens with Autism.  Thank you to our many long standing and loyal supporters who have stood shoulder to shoulder with us as we continue to support the individuals we endeavor to serve.

Extraordinary Ventures Appoints a New Director

The Board of Directors of Extraordinary Ventures New York is thrilled to announce the appointment of Elizabeth Oliveto as its new Director. Liz comes to EVNY with many years experience working with children and adults with autism, as an educator with the Devereux Millwood Learning Center and most recently as a job coach with the Devereux Adult Program. The mission of EVNY, established in 2015 with startup funds from FECA, is dedicated to creating micro businesses specifically designed to accommodate the special interests and skills of adults with autism.

The first business offering, seasonally and festively decorated candles, produced and sold by adults on the spectrum and offered directly to communities through craft and gift fairs and markets has been warmly received throughout the county. Liz has been working with EVNY on a part time basis since the Fall as the Sales Development Director, recruiting and training adults to sell our candles at various venues throughout Westchester County.

Liz has natural talent and enthusiasm which she will continue to bring to our first business; seasonally and festively decorated candles which are being sold through Westchester at craft and gift fairs and will expand this summer to farmers markets in the area. Look for a photographic array of candles which can be personalized for weddings and party favors, teacher and staff gifts and decorated to festively accompany the seasons and a continuously updated calendar on the EVNY Website.
